Parts of balance exercises work with movements. Motions are always a combination of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical expressions of energy. It is not possible to have a physical tension without having a corresponding mental and emotional stress.
Imbalanced physical tensions create misalignment that allow your energy to leak into joints instead of transferring them. Whatever energy leaks into joints damages your joints and diminishes the energy available to reach your goal.
The energy that leaks through the mental and emotional imbalances is far greater than the energy that leaks through the joints.
Part of exercise selection in balance training focuses on breathing patterns. Breathing patterns is a relatively straightforward way to bring balance to mental, emotional and physical aspects of a motion.
I share these examples for you to see that balance training is not about standing on one leg or a high-wire act.
Balance training is a process of internalizing your base of support that requires increasing your self-awareness and narrowing your base of support that is part of self-reliance.
